Welcome.
I graduated with a BS in biology from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. I
moved to Florida with my fiance, who is a graduate
student. Along the way, we stopped in Washington, DC for a summer. She
worked at Goddard Space Flight
Center, and I worked at the Maryland Fire
and Rescue Institute.
I was quickly adopted by the astronomy department at UF, where I work now.
I enjoy working with scientists a great deal.
I am one of two sysadmins for ~150 users. We are primarily a Linux shop,
using SuSE Linux. We have a growing number
of Apple workstations, and some MS Windows desktops as well.
I am an ameteur photograper. I have a Pentax K-1000 that is older than I
am, and will probably function for many more years. Recently, I have been
using a small P&S digital camera. I have plans to buy a digital SLR in
the next year or so, probably the Canon EOS 350D.
I am also an avid cyclist. I ride my road bike to and from work every
day. On weekends, I ride on the Hawthorne Trail, a converted railway.
