CanariCam

2008

CanariCam was designed and built at the infrared astronomy group in the department of astronomy at UF.  It will be one of the first light instruments for the 10.4m Gran Telescopio Canarias, nearing completion on the beautiful island of La Palma.  CanariCam will deliver diffraction limited images, spectroscopy, polarimetry and coronography to the GTC community.  The PI is Charlie Telesco and I serve as deputy-PI.

CanariCam had a successful acceptance testing in Florida in summer 2007, and is expected to ship to La Palma very soon, ready for commissioning in mid-2008.

As a reward for serving as deputy-PI for CanariCam, I am rewarded with guaranteed observing time, which I will use with the Piratas science team.

For much more information on the instrument, please follow this link to the CanariCam home page, maintained by Packham.
