S. Nicholas Raines

Nick Raines is an Assistant Scientist at the University of Florida's Dept. of Astronomy.  He is an instrument scientist with the Infrared Astrophysics Group, which designs, builds, and commissions infrared instruments for large telescopes around the world.

He is also the instrument scientist for FLAMINGOS, the world's first fully cryogenic near-infrared (1 - 2.5 micron) multi-object spectrometer; it is also a wide field imager.  Presently he is supporting FLAMINGOS operations from Gainesville, while concentrating on FLAMINGOS-2, a version of FLAMINGOS optimized for Gemini South.
