Stargate ObservatoryA star party site for the Alachua Astronomy Club, Inc., by invitation of Fred and Lucille Heinrich to visit their Stargate Observatory. (First star party, September 2006.)
The site is about 60 miles northwest of Gainesville, Florida, and about five miles east of Live Oak. Driving time from Gainesville is approximately one hour.

Directions from Gainesville
- Get on I-75, go approximately 50 miles north to ext 439 (SR 136). Go west toward Live Oak
- Go west on SR 136 for 2.4 miles, to CR 136A
- Turn right, go north on CR 136A for 1.8 miles
- Turn left onto Wiggins Road, go west for 0.5 miles
- Enter observing field just after the old house on the right

Directions from Live Oak
- From the intersection of US 90 & US 129, go north on US 129 for 4.5 miles to CR 136A
- Turn right on CR 136A, go east for 5 miles, to Wiggins Road
- Turn right on Wiggins Road, go south for 0.5 miles
- Enter observing field just after the old house on the right
- If you get lost, call (386) 362-5995
Notes:
- Recommended that you arrive at least an hour before sunset in order to find the site, and allow yourself time to set up
- If you arrive after dark, please use only parking lights as you come in the driveway.
- A 30 amp outlet is available for telescope power from which some power cords can be strung, but bring a field battery just in case
- There are restroom facilities, but bring lawn chairs and snacks (and some to share)
- Don't forget insect repellant
