Alachua Astronomy Club: Paynes Prairie Observing Site

Paynes Prairie State Preserve lies along the south border of Gainesville. Although Paynes Prairie offers many potential observing sites, this particular site, called Hickory Ranch, is located on the east side of the Prairie off of County Road (CR) 234.

Address of Gated Entry: 9300 SE CR 234.

CR 234 goes north from US 441 at Micanopy to the Hawthorne road (Road 20)

Distance: approx. 3.8 mi north of US 441 & CR 234 intersection

CR 234 has a street light but is in the SE and half mile from the site. An existing security light can be turned off. The site has bathroom facilities.
