The Villages near Ocala holds an annual star party for local residents. The AAC participates in this event by providing telescopes and other assistance.

The Villages is located a few miles south of the Marion/Sumter County Line, about two miles east of US 301 on SR. 466

    Distance from Gainesville: 65 mi.
    Driving Time: abt. 75 min.

  • Take I75 South toward Ocala
  • Continue on I75 past Ocala
    (for about 12 mi after passing Exit 68, Rt. 40)
  • Exit I75 at Rt. 484 (Exit #341)
  • Go East (toward Belleview)
    about 2.3 mi to Rt. 475
  • Turn Right (South) on Rt. 475
  • After about 7 mi. Rt. 475 turns into
    Rt. 466 heading East
  • Continue on Rt. 466
    about 5 mi East to US 301
  • Continue on Rt. 466
    past US 301 another 2.0 mi
  • Turn Left (North) into the Villages Entrance
  • Proceed 0.5 mi to Traffic Light at Southern Terrace & Polo fields
  • Turn right toward fields
  • After turn bear left, continue east about 0.2 mi. to observing field
