Installing RedHat 8.0 from network
- Grab this boot image and make a
boot floppy (dd if=bootfloppy.img of=/dev/fd0)
- Put the new computer in DNS, Netgroup, and DHCP (all manually
now)
- Boot off floppy, press return at 'boot:' prompt.
- Come back in 15 minutes. Reboot machine, set video mode using redhat-configurator-xfree86
Installing a SUSE 9 system from the network
- Grab a boot iso (either /astro/data/rupert0/suse90-autoyast.iso or
http://mirror.astro.ufl.edu, or http://www.suse.de).
- Boot off the cd
- If using our SUSE 9-autoyast.iso then select "autoinstallation"
- If not, then select install and add the following options: autoyast=http://128.227.184.2/it/boot/autoyast2.xml
install=nfs://128.227.184.7/export/software/suse/9.0
- Select "Yes, Proceed" when prompted.
- Come back in an hour and it should be all setup.
Autoyasting a GX-270
I had some problems autoyasting a GX-270. It couldn't get an ip address via dhcp.
My workaround is here..
