Areas of Specialty
Extra-solar planets, Binary Stars, Brown Dwarfs, periodic variable stars: RR Lyrae and Cepheids in particular, galactic structure primarily the galactic halo, stellar streams, dwarf galaxies, open clusters, and globular clusters.
Research Interests
My work breaks down into two main groups. The first is the study of stars and how they form particularly in respect to companions whether they be other stars, brown dwarfs or planets. The second group is studying stellar populations. In particular, I look at the stellar components of various systems, galactic halo, globular clusters, dwarf galaxies etc. and attempt to understand what they can tell us about the origins of the systems. I've worked primarily with intrinsically variable stars such as RR Lyrae and Cepheids.
Biography
I was born and raised in the Midwest. I went to undergraduate at the University of Kansas where I received a BS in Physics and a BS in Astronomy. I then moved to Michigan where I received both my Masters and PhD. I moved to Univ. of Florida to start my first postdoctoral position.
