Extrasolar Planet Detection and Characterization, Theoretical Transit Studies, Transit Observations (Near-Infrared).
My research deals with the characterization of extrasolar planets via transits. Specifically, I am interested in using transit data to constrain the physical and orbital properties of exoplanets so that we can better understand planet formation and evolution. I am also interested in exoplanetary atmospheres and detecting spectral features necessary for life. Currently, I am using the 10.4-meter Gran Telescopio Canarias to study several known transiting exoplanets.
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Florida. Before arriving at UF, I received my B.S. degree in Physics, with a minor in Mathematics, from The College of New Jersey in 2007. I then received my M.S. degree in Astronomy under the supervision of Dr. Eric Ford at UF in 2009. I also received the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship in 2009.
