Three of us managed to reach Villafranca on the planned date whereas the others were forced to
stay in the previous town due to their injuries. Villafranca is a very pretty town situated in a
very pretty landscape. Its carefully worked castels and churches
make you feel as if you had stepped back in time. The whole village is surrounded by beautifull green hills
and you can find a stream flowing through the center of the town with clear, cool, curative waters.
The three who reached the town were in for a treat since the hosterl where we stayed was the center
of attentions, chosen by a television channel to be filmed. A couple of us were interviewd and the hostel
performed what is known as a "burning" (a queimada) where a famous alcoholic beverage is set fire to
and benevolent spirits as are called upon and malevolent ones are removed...
