List Archives
Posting Messages to AST1002-L
- Messages posted on this list are archived on the Web.
(Hence, you can always read old messages or messages you missed!)- Past messages are archived on a UF server at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/ast1002-l.html.
- To search archives click on Search Archives (also found near top of this page and on home page).
To Subscribe To This List
- Although AST1002-L is not a "chat group", students are welcome to send mail to AST1002-L if message directly pertains to course material.
- Since AST1002-L is "moderated," messages will only be sent on to all subscribers if approved by your professor.
- To post a message to AST1002-L, send your message to AST1002-L@lists.ufl.edu.
- Send personal correspondence to your professor at cohen@astro.ufl.edu.
- Unless replies to posted messages are for "everyones' eyes," reply to posted messages by sending your reply to the original sender's e-mail address and not the whole list!
- That is, do not send replies to AST1002-L@lists.ufl.edu unless the reply is intended for the entire list!
- Send e-mail to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
- Use no subject or signature
- In body of e-mail put SUBSCRIBE AST1002-L firstname lastname
(Example: SUBSCRIBE AST1002-L Albert Einstein)
Note: Do NOT use Albert Einstein--use your own name when you subscribe!- Be careful when spelling the list's name: AST1002-L
(There is no space between AST and 1002; there is a dash between AST1002 and L; the last character is the letter L [not the numeral one])- Do not use any "styled" or formatted text (proportional fonts, bold, etc.).
(Use only simple text with a non-proportional font, i.e., Courier.)- Make sure you send your request to listserv (listserv@lists.ufl.edu) -- NOT TO AST1002-L!
- Notice that listserv is spelled without a final letter "e" (it is listserv NOT listserve)

Later Check Your E-Mail:
- You will first receive a confirmation message
- You must reply OK to the confirmation to be automatically added to AST1002-L.
(Alternatively, the confirmation message will give you a web address to use to confirm your subscription.)If you do not
- Get a confirmation message or
- Confirm the confirmation message,
Then you are NOT SUBSCRIBED!
Note: Some students have trouble subscribing because they have not followed the subscription rules above. Occasionally some attempts to subscribe fail due to problems with the students Internet provider. For example, if your e-mail is filtered to prevent scam or other unwanted material, you may have difficulty subscribing. Check with your Internet provider or use a different e-mail account (e.g., GatorLink, HotMail, etc.). If you have a GatorLink account and have difficulty subscribing, contact the UF Computing Help Desk: (352) 392-HELP or helpdesk@ufl.edu.
Removing yourself from this list is equally simple (see below). Further information about this list, including instructions for how to unsubscribe and review the archives, will be sent once you have subscribed. (Also, see note below.)
