Missed Exam Procedure
You must follow the rules
It's the "law"!Exam makeups are usually never given. Examples of invalid excuses for missing an exam or wanting a makeup include: sleeping through exam, automobile or transportation problems, family events (weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, baptism, funerals, etc.), sickness, forgot exam, have multiple exams on the same date, etc. In such cases, your professor will follow the "dropped exam policy" described elsewhere (i.e., lowest of the first four exams dropped).
However, your professor may accommodate students to take exams at other than designated times either for:
A) The Final ExamMore than three final exams on same date (documentation required)
or
(In fact, UF usually provides each department with an official list of such cases) Sick or family emergency (documentation required)
B) Any Exam (for the following three conditions):
Official, important University events (documentation required) Military or jury obligations (documentation required) Religous reasons (documentation not required)
Note: If you believe you have some other condition that you think may allow your professor to accommodate you to take an exam an some other date/time, see your professor, preferably in his office (at least two weeks before the exam), to discuss your situation. (You will still have to adhere to the procedure below and your professor is not obligated to automatically accommodate your needs.)
Procedure
Students must strictly adhere to the following procedure, which must be completed before the exam is given, in order for your professor to consider accommodatng your special needs.
(Before the exam is given means at least two weeks before the examination date.)
Compliance with the above rules does not necessarily guarantee you can be accommodated. However, failure to adhere to the above policy releases your professor from any obligation to accommodate missed exams.
- You must contact your professor or
have some else contact your professor if you unable to do so yourself
(at least two weeks prior to the exam as stated above).
- Supply official, written documentation (unless otherwise specified).
- Receive permission from your professor to take the exam at some other time.
- Agree with your professor on an alternate date and time to take the exam.
(This requires completion of a "makeup form".)[Return to Missed Exams Policy]
