International Workshop on
Multiple Scattering Lidar Experiments
MUSCLE XIII
28 June - 1 July 2004, Saint-Petersburg, Russia
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
The next International Workshop MUSCLE XIII will be
held on 28 June – 1 July 2004 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
The organizers are Institute of Atmospheric Optics
(Rus. Acad. Sci., Tomsk), the Saint-Petersburg University, and Saint -
Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation (Rus. Acad. Sci.).
The previous MUSCLE Workshops were held in Germany
(2002), USA (2000), Italy (1999), Israel (1997), and so on. Though the central
scientific problem of the MUSCLE Workshops is multiple scattering in lidar signals,
the more general topics of single and multiple scattering of waves are
traditionally welcome, for example:
- light scattering by spherical and nonspherical
particles;
- multiple scattering of radiation in discrete
media;
- inverse problems for diagnostics of
scattering media with applications to various areas of physics and technology,
etc.
The MUSCLE XIII will take place in the main building
of the Saint-Petersburg University located in the heart of Saint - Petersburg.
Since the "white night" period is a peak
of tourism resulting in certain problems with accommodation, the Organizing
Committee earnestly request you to send your preliminary intention to attend
the MUSCLE Workshop to e-mail: muscle@iao.ru
The dissemination of this information among your
colleagues who could be interested is appreciated. The additional information
will be sent by the second announcement in January 2004. It will be also
allocated at the site http://www.muscle.iao.ru
On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
