HONORS
& AWARDS:
Anderson Scholar Faculty Honoree, teaching recognition by the Univ. of Florida
in 1999.
Award Recipient for “Outstanding Research Activities”, by the Univ. of Florida
in 1997.
Asteroid 4275 named “Bogustafson” in 1997.
Citation by the International Astronomical
Union: “Named in honor of Bo Å. S. Gustafson at the University of Florida,
Gainesville. Gustafson has specialized in studying the formation, evolution, and
fate of small particles in the solar system. Along with J. M. Greenberg, his
name is associated with the "bird's nest" model of cometary grains as very
porous aggregates. His work concerns both dynamics and physics, including
optical properties in particular. Since 1994 he leads the Laboratory for
Astrophysics in Gainesville, doing microwave simulations of light scattering.”
Suggested by E. Bowell.”
