The CODAG (COmet Dust Aggregation) -Experiment was flown on the Space Shuttle Discovery in October 1998.

CODAG is a German experiment headed by Dr. Jügen Blum at the University of Jena - the Laboratory for Astrophysics built the Light Scattering Unit

Dr. Jürgen Blum in 1998 working on the CODAG shortly before launch.

CODAG is a microgravity experiment to shed light on a how dust particles come together at the beginning of planetary creation to form comets and other planetesimals. The experiment is designed to test theoretical models of how dust grows by aggregation and how light propagates through a solar nebula of gas or dust.
