GRADES (Section 428)

For final grades click here. If you have any questions about your grade, please come by my office this Tuesday between 2 and 5pm.

The contribution to the final grade of the various requirements for this course are summarized in the following table:

Midterm Exam	30 pts (20%)
Final Exam	30 pts (20%)
Observing Project-I	30 pts (20%)
Observing Project-II	30 pts (20%)
Quizes	30 pts (20%)
TOTAL	150 pts (100%)

In addition, extra points may be awarded for answering Concept Test questions in class.

Final grades will be assigned on an absolute scale, although a curve system may be adopted if it provides a substantial improvement to the grade distribution for the benefit of the majority of the students. The absolute scale is as follows:


A : 90.0 - 100.0 percent
B+: 85.0 -  89.5 percent
B : 80.0 -  84.5 percent
C+: 70.0 -  79.5 percent
C : 60.0 -  69.5 percent
D+: 55.0 -  59.5 percent
D : 50.0 -  54.5 percent
E : 40.0 -  49.5 percent

In order to pass, students with S/U grades need: (i) to obtain at least a D+ in the combined point average of the midterm and final exams (i.e., at least 33 points), and (ii) to obtain at least a D+ in the combined point average of both observing projects reports (i.e., at least 33 points).
