For those of you who didn't do so well on the first hour test and are wondering what has to be done to pull your grade up, I've prepared a table for each course grade of A, B+, B, and C listing some hour test grades and what grade average is needed on the remaining course work with that first grade. What's needed depends of course on whether you take the final examination. I recommend doing that, naturally, but I've listed grades in case you don't.
Some of the averages are above 100. It's possible to score that provided that there's a curve, which is usually the case. However, there's also some question of whether you can average such high grades if you bombed the first test. You'll have to answer that one yourself.
There's some time after the second test before the deadline to drop the course, so if you're thinking about dropping I suggest that you wait to see how that test comes out. In that case you should definitely meet with me to discuss this test.
