The Stellar Halo of M33 - Promises and Puzzles
As the only genuine late type spiral galaxy in the Local Group, M33 inhabits a special location in parameter space allowing us to perform detailed studies of how late type spirals fit into the cold dark matter scheme for galaxy formation. To this end, I will review the properties of M33's stellar halo - both the clusters and the field stars - in order to better understand the process of galaxy formation.
