    Ode to Luna

    A little diddy for the acknowledgement section.

    Luna, my love, my one and only cat
    I dedicate my thesis to you
    For if you did not love me so
    I don't know what I'd do
    You stayed up with me those late nights
    Studying and working hard
    You purred, meowed, and begged for food
    Maxed out my credit card
    But Luna, my love, as I see your face
    And your whiskers tickle me
    I can't help but thank you now
    That I have my PhD

    My Bio

    I wrote a little rap for Dave's Thesis Bio. Imagine Dave dressed as "50-cent" (or fiddy), doing this rap.

    This is where I say how awesome that I am.
    Checking all my e-mail, fighting off the spam.
    Drinking lots of coffee till my teeth are good and stained.
    Using up my energy till all my youth is drained.

    When I was a little boy I always loved the stars.
    Never turned my head aside to girls or sports or cars.
    Then I got the bright idea to do astronomy.
    And now I am so awesome 'cause I have a PhD!

    i was once a x-ray
    burning up the sky
    linked to other wavelengths
    by a slick frame tie
    i was published in ApJ,
    but it told a tale
    and now listen, astro folk
    science will prevail

    can i graduate now?

    thesis now is getting writ
    and i've come so far
    time for me to graduate
    and become a star

    I Submit

    In honor of this glorious day on which Dave has submitted his completed thesis to his committee, I have composed the following bit of verse.

    Is it ready? Is it right?
    I'll read it one more time tonight.
    All I need is one more day,
    Find the typos, where are they?!

    Print it out not once, but twice
    Perfectionism has its price.
    I'm never done, but must commit
    Time is up! So I submit!
