The comet as seen at the University of Florida's Rosemary Hill Observatory March 15, 1997at 4:52AM EST. It is a 15 sec exposure with a 70mm telephoto lens at f/8 attached to an ST-8 CCD camera (2x2 averaging). Observers: John Oliver and Richard Jarnagin.
March 16, 1997 5:23 AM EST; 10 second exposure ST-8 1530x1020 pix, The inner coma as seen with the 18inch f/10.5 reflector. Several "Hoods" are visible ... material ejected from the rotating nucleus and pushed away by the solar wind.
