40th birthday celebration postponed

Dear Friends,

It is with much regret that I am writing to inform you that the UF Astronomy 40th Birthday celebration is being canceled. There have been several reported cases of coronavirus in Florida in the past few days, including one for a person with no recent history of foreign travel. While the current risk remains low at this time, it has been decided that it is best to exercise an abundance of caution, as it is not possible to predict the spread of this virus over the next month. We plan to reschedule the event for April 2021, with the exact date still to be determined. For all of you who have registered, we will be working with the UF Foundation to refund your payments in a timely fashion and sincerely apologies for this change in plans. Also, for those of you not in Gainesville, please do feel welcome to come by the department any time you are in town and see what has changed since you were last here.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth Lada
