I have recently started marketing pieces from my train collection at www.modeltrainsales.net. Check it out!
I started with a Terrain For Trains hard-shell base in HO scale. These have a predetermined track plan built into them and come painted or unpainted. I chose to go with the painted version. From there I added the roadbed (AMI Instant Roadbed) and track (Atlas code 83). I am in the process of adding structures, lanscaping, and ballast. The control of the trains is via Digital Command Control (DCC) with the MRC Prodigy Advance system, which allows programming on the main track as well as the ability to address up to 20 functions. I used the Atlas Master DCC system initially, but it has some limitations that I could not overcome. The motive power for my trains is mainly Atlas Master locomotives, though I also have some Athearn, Proto 2000, and Broadway Limited pieces. I rely on my local hobby shop - Dan's Train Depot - in Ocala, FL for good deals and good advice. I also get quite a few modelling ideas from regular trips to the Ocala Model Railroaders open houses.
If you reside near Gainesville, FL or anywhere in north-central Florida and are seriously interested in model railroading and/or starting a model railroad club, you can contact me by email.
