Canarias InfraRed Camera Experiment

The Canarias InfraRed Camera Experiment (CIRCE) is Prof. Steve Eikenberry's visitor-class near–infrared (1–2.5 micron) imager, spectrograph, and polarimeter for the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). The main set of pages describing the instrument are somewhat out of date in regards to current status. Please contact Prof. Eikenberry if you would like to learn more about CIRCE.

I am a CIRCE team member, and have provided advice on near-infrared cyro-mechanical engineering techniques to former graduate students Michelle Edwards (now a Science Fellow at Gemini Observatory), and Miguell Charcos Llorens (now a software engineer at SOFIA), and I am presently providing advice on cyro-electrical engineering techniques to current graduate student Nestor Lasso Cabrera. Between April and June 2008 I also periodically assisted Dr. Javier Cenarro Lagunas, an Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Associate who worked on CIRCE mechanism testing as part of his project as a student in the International School for Advanced Instrumentation (IScAI).

CIRCE Papers

There a several papers describing CIRCE. Links to them to some of them on my Proceedings page are given below:
