Outreach Activities
_ _ _ _ _
Over the last few years, I have been invited to give a series of talks aimed to the general public in various cities of Spain, Mexico, and the US, including talks in Florida at the UF Alumni Association. These talks present key questions in modern cosmology that remain unanswered despite this golden era of new discoveries in astronomy driven by the use of state-of the-art technology. In 2007, I was asked to give the opening talk entitled “Let's talk about Physics” in a series of seminars organized by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, attended by two Nobel Prizes. I am currently involved on the outreach activities within the CONSOLIDER program associated to the celebration of the International Year of Astronomy in 2009. Pending funding from the NSF, the activities at UF will include itinerant planetarium shows and large visual exhibits open to the general public, with particular emphasis on the Spanish-speaking community in Florida.
